LAYER BARN
MAPLETON, ONTARIO

Client: John Ernewein Ltd.

Egg layer barns are advanced indoor facilities designed to optimize hen health and egg production through controlled environments. As agricultural buildings evolve, so do the regulatory frameworks that govern them. Recent updates to the Ontario Building Code introduced new exit requirements for agricultural structures, which posed challenges to the operational layout and efficiency of modern egg production facilities. To address this, CHM conducted a timed-egress exit analysis, demonstrating that fire and life safety standards could be met without compromising the barn’s functional integrity.

CHM’s timed-egress analysis was developed as an Alternative Solution, which maintains our commitment to supporting both practical operations and regulatory fire and life safety.
