The Wood Innovation Design Centre in Prince George, British Columbia, provides a gathering place for researchers, academics, and design professionals to generate ideas for innovative uses of wood. The building set many precedents in the North American building context through extensive engineering research and testing by the project team to prove the safety and validity of mass timber construction techniques.

Housed in the building is the Master of Engineering in Integrated Wood Design program. Students in the program pursue research on wood with relation to future wood structures. CHM participated in the project in the role of Fire Engineering and developed the approved Alternative Solution in support of the exposed mass timber structure.
